For a civil case, she could actually be entitled to advance legal funding, and most certainly a case taken at no charge by an attorney who would then get a portion of the settlement, provided the case was credible.

And, don't forget there are womens' rights attorneys who would make a media circus of the case, assisting the purported victim through the criminal phase and then suing the alleged perpetrator and his employing police agency in the civil phase.
Indeed, at the time the Mexicans Without Borders group organized a big march down to the city hall in her honor. I suspect if she had a civil case they would have provided her legal representation. If not them, as bmwguydc points out, there would have been plenty of other organizations willing to take up her cause. Of course as pointed out, in a criminal case the victim doesn't need to pay for any legal representation.

Most people believe it is very odd that if she had a case of any kind, she wouldn't have disappeared like that and it would have gone to court.

I cannot believe people here hate on the very same people that protect them. The United States already has the highest crime rate amongst the developed world yet you guys still advocate for more rights for the criminals and less power to the police. Truly bizarre.

Come on Alan! If there were even a shred of credibility in her allegations, the attorneys would be lining up and foaming at the mouth to handle her case.

That's not true. This thread was started out of concern that police had overstepped their bounds in entering a residence without a warrant, and apparently going overboard because of a complaint by a policeman's wife. I support law and order and believe that laws should also apply to the police. This is a vaild concern, and it is very healthy to be critical of people who hold so much power.

If you haven't read the first part of the thread, please do. See the news video of the interview with the Naked Guy and see how it was dark out when police wife cut through his yard. I get very concened when people are minding thier own business in their house and find wake up to some goons who have busted into his house without a warrent sticking guns in his face. If someone is breaking the law, what's the difference whether they are wearing a uniform or not?

Exactly. They made a big deal about it at the time with the big march down to city hall. There's no way after all that, they wouldn't have pursued it if there had been something to it.

Just think. If you're a cop and don't like a neighbor, or you just want to get around the Constitution. Just have your wife trespass and get the evidence that you couldn't get on your own. She call it in and even say that she's a cop's wife. Apparently judges don't think twice about the conflict of interest.

It just gets worse the more you read about it. The judge was going to sentence him to six months in jail. Where was his four-year-old daughter going to go? He would have gotten a raped for sure considering that it was a sex crime against a child that he would have been convicted of. Nothing like having an eccentric judge like Ian O'Flaherty trying your case.

FairfaxGuy73,

Obviously, the author of this article didn't do his homework. It says the guy lived in a rented townhouse. There are no townhouses on Arley Drive in Springfield. This Williamson guy lived in a detached single family home with his co-workers that his employer rented for them. This guy and at least one of his roomates were cited for being drunk in public last September so he is not this upstanding citizen that the media keeps portraying him to be.

As for his daughter, I going to assume that the mother has primary custody. I can't imagine that his daughter was having overnight visitation while he was living at what was essentially a frat house.

That's because the police are doing a good job of protecting you from MS-13.

Or b/c MS13 has gone into hiding the last couple of years but I still have to deal with these cops.
