Default Need some info please

My husband just moved to NoVa and offices in Stafford, VA. I'm looking for jobs and need some help on where to look and not look. I've gotten an email from a company in Bethesda that is very interested but even if we find a townhome rental that is halfway between, I'm afraid of the commute. Any words of wisdom will help.

A Stafford to Bethesda commute would be pretty tough. If you split the difference, it might work. Any chance you could focus your job search on Stafford and perhaps points south?

Default south of Stafford

Looking at the map, I'd probably have to go to Richmond. I'm a user experience designer so I need to be in a metro area of some sort.

With your husband's work being in Stafford, I would suggest focusing your job search closer in than Bethesda as I would think the commute would be tough -- and you wouldn't see each other much. Any chance the Bethesda position would allow for some telecommuting or compressed work schedule? I would probably do an interview with the Bethesda company anyway -- it never hurts. If you could find a position in Prince William County or Fairfax County, I think it would be easier from a commuting standpoint.

I have to admit that I have no idea what a user experience designer is. But I would think that there would be other opportunities in Northern Virginia. I don't know what the job market is in Richmond but if you can find an opportunity there, your commute from Stafford would certainly be easier than crossing the riverr to Bethesda, even though Stafford is "technically" part of the greater DC metro.

are salaries generally lower in the Richmond area compared to NoVa? There are some information architect/user experience designers in that area.

Very generally, yes, Richmond salaries are lower in IT-related positions. The demand is greater here (northern Virginia) and from what I've seen, well-qualified candidates now have more leverage in terms of salaries/benefits.

No offense, but I'm not going to waste the time to read what you want if you can't even take the time to describe it in the title.

Default sorry I wasn't specific enough

I'm new at this so if the title needs to be more descriptive, I will keep that in mind for next time. Sorry to have "wasted your time"
