Both are at the intersection of OKM Rd and Rolling Rd. A Panera's is going in soon in a vacated Blockbusters next to Merchant Tire. An independently owned Thai restaurant will open in the coming weeks near Whole Foods. Good news for greater Springfield residents who like to dine out occasionally and not drive far.

Yay - good news for you guys. I did notice that there were relatively few restaurants - even for NoVA - in the Burke/West Springfield area (as pretty as it was). My parents (who drove me down there to look around) suspected it might have had something to do with zoning - i.e., residents not wanting a lot of commercial stuff there. *shrug*

I remember there was a Popeye's chicken in that little strip mall there, is it still there?

That's good news, I'm looking forward to the Panera.

Panera is great for soups, sandwiches, etc., coffee and the occasional pastry (especially their fruit pastries). Some of them have the free wi-fi so it's a nice place to hang out doing work. I don't live near Springfield but hope the residents enjoy these new places!

That's actually in the strip mall across Rolling. The one with the CVS and Giant in it.

Thank you for posting this news! I wondered what was going in there. It figures this would happen (just as we're getting ready to move)!

Panera Bread and a Thai restaurant should do well in that location. I'm glad they will be here in West Springfield.

At long last, a Thai restaurant in West Springfield---hope it's a good one. I won't have to schlepp to Bailey's Crossroads to get my Thai fix.
