Would you dine at a new restaurant serving authentic puertorican food in the Arlington area?

If so, what would you want to see on the menu?

If not, what would it take to get you try it out?

I'm interested in opening a restaurant serving authentic puertorican food, and need to gather information from you!!

DO IT PLEASE! I LOVE Puerto-Rican food and have been searching forever for a place in the DMV. I went to school down in the Hampton Roads area and believe it or not they have several PR restaurants down there that are quite popular. Some of my favorites menu items are:

Chuletas Fritas
Pernil
Pasteles
Bistec Encebollado
Arroz con Gandules
Platanos

YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never had it but would definitely try it. I am a big fan of eating anything I don't eat everyday....and it would be another excuse to hang out in Arlington

I'd go, as long as they gave me a copy of the Secret Puerto Rican menu.

Default tylercowansethnicdiningguide.com

OK, I'm a big fan of the following website because I think it's the definitive guide to ethnic dining in the metro area: tylercowensethnicdiningguide.com. (or google: "tyler cowen ethnic")

I use this website quite a bit, and it really gives you a window into the amazing ethnic diversity we have. At any rate, there were 3 restaurants listed that offered Puerto Rican cuisine----Rumba Cafe, 2443 18th St. N.W. (DC), Cancun, 11260 Georgia Ave. (Wheaton, Md.), and Banana Cafe, 500 8th St., S.E. (DC). I haven't been to any of these, so I can't vouch for their quality or for their authenticity-----let us know how they are if you decide to check them out.

This is great feedback! Keep it coming!!!!

If you have ideas on specialty drinks (i.e. coquito) and desserts (i.e. tres leches), I would love to hear what you have!

I am not aware of a local Puerto Rican presence that by itself would support your endeavor, but the thing about Arlington is that it is known for its ethnically-diverse eating establishments. Any addition to that theme--if it has good food--will have a good chance of success. Market yourself smartly to get word out, and I believe you will attract clientele. They will return and spread the word if they like their experience. Good luck.
