Joey: If you can both work AND live in Herndon, you will beat the worst problem in the region - long, hateful commutes. Some dudes live a hundred miles out and take 2+ hours each way. No way to live.

Herndon is a decent small town, we lived there 1974-75 in Stuart Woods Apartments, brand new at the time. There are many others, you can also live in the other areas I've mentioned, they will get you a short commute. Reston is getting pricey. The other areas are all decent, but the closer you get to work, the better.

Make sure any employer makes it clear where your office will be, as many of them will put you on-site with customers, like all sorts of Federal offices, many of which are in horrendous commuting locations.

Stay in touch with the list for good advice.

Thank you for the tips. I will keep in touch.

PS: Where can I get good blue crabs in NoVA for a good price? I know of a great place on the other side of the bay bridge... although local for quick hits, etc.
