Still on the hunt for our new home and are considering a few of the small towns near Warrenton. It looks like it could be great or horsey/snobby and exclusive. We particularly liked a few houses in Jeffersonton.
Anyone with experiences to share about how easy it is to move there and fit in?

Horsey snobby? Warrenton's no Middleburg if that's what you mean. I always find folks there perfectly nice. It has a real hometown feel to it actually.

Yeah I always got the vibe that Warrenton was more "country" than "horsey" like Middleburg. Not that they don't have plenty of horses in Warrenton. But Middleburg is the "hunt club" horse set. Make sense?

I just noticed you're from Greensburg, PA. I visited a friend's family there one time and remember going to Monte Carlo night at the local firehouse hall where people were super friendly even though I wasn't from there. You'll find that kind of social interaction and openness (although not as many Italians) around Warrenton.

We can't wait to leave here. People are friendly enough but the area is bogged down economically and culturally bereft no matter what anyone tells you.
My husband was born here and I arrived here 20 years ago from Alexandria. I'd rather be closer to a more cosmopolitan city than Pittsburgh and we love Virginia. Hope to be there soon.

Will either of you be employed somewhere, and if so, I hope it's not far from Warrenton? You have to keep in mind that traffic in the DC area overall is absolutely horrendous.

I am a SAHM and we have planned for some down time while my husband looks for work. He greatly underestimates traffic closer to D.C. I find it hilarious when he tells me that he could commute to Arlington /Alexandria because it is an hour away!
