Does anyone have any information about the Somerset Farms community located between Culpeper and Fredericksburg? My husbands work may be taking us to the Culpeper area in the near future and we are trying to get a little more information on the surrounding areas as we begin our house hunt. Thanks in advance for any information provided.

I showed some clients homes in Somerset, which is located off of Route 3 in Orange County, almost a year ago, so I will give you what I remember, but keep in mind we recently left the area.

It's my understanding that a local developer started the community, but sold it to Beazer Homes. When I was there, there were two sections... the affordable homes and then the more expensive homes on larger lots. I thought the smaller homes were very close together, but very similar to the newer developments in Spotsylvania. The larger lots and homes were very roomy and spacious. Definitely watch the lot location though. Some of them back to a different development, Wilderness Shores which is a Tricord development.

Somerset also has a public golf course, so keep in mind you could have some traffic from that. The course is reasonably priced, and my husband enjoyed playing there, but the last time he was there it was not in good shape. I think the lack of rain last summer really did a number on the condition of the course.

If you have children and public schools will be an issue, you might want to search for any posts on Lake of the Woods, which is also located in Orange County. You will probably get some good info on the county with those threads.

Good luck on your search!

Ditto varscher....would also like some info on Somerset Farms. I am purchasing a new home there, and really like what I see so far with the neighborhood. Any general insight someone could provide would be great!
