Hi,
Besides Old Town, Kingstowne, Del Ray, are their any other neighborhood worth considering in Alexandria that are nice, safe and family-friendly?
Thanks!

You might want to check out Alexandria's West End. I have friends who bought a home there and they like it (although they miss their old neighborhood Del Ray).

Also, unlike Del Ray and Old Town, Kingstowne is outside the city limits so it's part of Fairfax County.

mlv311 is right. I lived on the west end (Landmark) since 05 and i really like it. I couldn't tolerate any place else inside the beltway.

Check out the many different areas within the Van Dorn and Duke Street areas. These two streets form an L in Alexandria, and there are many nice little places you can find to live within the "L"

Thanks very much for you replies. Has anyone heard about the cameron station community? Any insider information about this community?
Also I just read something on washingtong post about flooding in Alexandria area.
How bad is it for the city of alexandria and the kingstowne area?
Thanks

Cameron Station doesnt ring a bell, but Avalon at Cameron Court does. The apartments located off of Eisenhower Ave are all relatively nice/decent. The worst part of them is they are directly off a main street that is driven on pretty fast. Besides that...the Eiesenhower Ave area is safe, and pretty quite.

The Kingstowne are is another nice section of Fairfax county...you really can go wrong moving there. However, the Kingstowne area get get very busy at times, because a lot of people go there to to shop...and it a highly travelled through section of town.

cameron station very big expensive upper-class community. directly off duke st. really nice area.

The flooding is more of a problem in the huntington area (non alexandria city)although the eisenhower ave area got hit pretty good by some flood water kingstowne didnt even get anything from what i know. that may be the only area inside the city limits that you have to think about flooding.
