Google maps will give you a drive time estimate in traffic. If you're considering using public transportation, try the WMATA website and use the trip planner for time estimates.

I have looked up the times on the websites but was hoping to hear from someone who had lived at one of the two bases and worked at the Pentagon and what their experience was. Thanks for the help and advice. I really appreciate it.

For Belvoir to Pentagon depends on which route you take: 235 to GW Parkway or Route 1. Allow about 45 minutes.

I don't have an exact answer BUT maybe this will help...

I live in Springfield/Lorton next to Ft. Belvoir and I drive to Alexandria about 3 miles from the Pentagon...

I leave at about 7AM and it takes me 20 minutes. BUT I don't go 395 - I go 495 and then do the streets to my destination.

Last year I did the 395 and got off on Glebe and it was usually about 25-30 minutes.

The earlier you go in the better - if I leave even 5 minutes later it adds at least 5 minutes, usually 20 more minutes.

I would look at other criteria for living at both places besides commute time. Bolling is very isolated, meaning there is nothing to do right outside the base, the BX is very small, and the school district might leave a bit to be desired. Access to safe mass transit is limited. There is/was a shuttle to the Pentagon. The BK on base will get old really fast.

Belvoir has a plenty to do right outside, as well as on the post. The PX is huge and the commissary is great. The school district is Fairfax county. Which no matter how "bad" the school is, it is better than Maryland or the District and many parts of the US in general.

Unless you are offered parking at the Pentagon, you will be taking mass transit, which is easier to access from Belvoir, it may take a bit longer, but as mentioned the other things might outweigh it.

Of course all this is dependent on the waiting lists.
