Hi everyone - my husband has been offered a terrific promotion which means we are leaving our lifelong home town in Mass. and all family & friends and moving to No VA. (Can you tell I have mixed feelings? It's nothing against NoVA). We have a daughter who will be a sophomore in HS next fall, and I need to figure out which High Schools in Loudoun County offer quality special ed programs to meet her needs.

Any insight also on communities where a fair number of teens live so she can create some connections? So far we've looked at planned communities in South Riding, Aldie, Brambleton, and existing homes in Herndon, Reston, Chantilly (yes, some in Fairfax County, too....)

Would love some info! Thanks in advance ....

We seem to have a lot of teens here in Brambleton. Briar Woods High School (http://cmsweb1.loudoun.k12.va.us/bwhs/site/default.asp - broken link) is located within our community, so there are a lot of teens out and about after school, hanging out (or working) at our town center, which has a movie theater, restaurants, coffee shop, grocery store, etc. Brambleton is actually hosting the Loudoun Youth Fest (http://loudounyouth.org/youthfest.php - broken link) this year, on the same day as our community's Freedom Fest.

I don't know anything about special ed programs, but the county has a Parent Resource Center (http://cmsweb1.loudoun.k12.va.us/50911551916465/site/default.asp - broken link) that should be able to help you.
