Can anyone recommend a pulmonologist who is knowlegeable and good at treating atypical asthma (e.g., cough-variant, etc.)??? I don't really care where the Dr. is located.

Thanks.

I'll have to look up his name, but I went to a doc, like you're asking about,, in Greenbelt, MD. He's by far the best doctor for Asthma or Allergies that I have ever been to. I'll to remember to get the name. Bump the thread if I forget.

If you have asthma, you should probably go see an allergy/asthma specialist since asthma is their specialty.

Actually, pulmonologists are better at asthma than an allergy/asthma specialist who mainly deal with allergies with asthma that is a byproduct of those allergies.

DKF747 - did you have a chance to look up the doc's name?

Thanks for the idea smokemaster but we don't have a cat. She died years ago.

I apologize for forgetting. I've been so busy. I'll see if I can find the name today.

One of the best pulmonologists in NoVA is Doctor James Lamberti. He was extremely effective at treating my wife's severe asthma. I highly recommend him. He has two offices:

Lamberti, James P MD - Northern Virginia Pulmonary, Annandale, VA : Reviews and maps - Yahoo! Local

Lamberti, James MD - Northern Virginia Pulmonary, Arlington, VA : Reviews and maps - Yahoo! Local

When you wrote "treating your wife's severe asthma", was it by using allopathic medicines or unconventional medicines such as homeopathy, ayurveda, accupressure, etc

The reason I ask is because my mom-in-law has asthma and based on my research, allopathy clearly states that it cannot cure asthma; it can only control it.

Did your wife's medicine go away or is it under control using controler medicines such as Symbicort, Flovent, etc.?

Thanks,
K

Your respiration isn't something you want to experiment on with unconventional therapies. That's a good way to end up not breathing. Go with the best pulmonologist you can find.
