So, since Union Township schools are in Valpo, can you go there if you move out of the local area into another Valpo neighborhood that is actually served by the Valparaiso school district?

it's too bad you need to know this weekend because otherwise, you could call the school. Union Twp's homepage doesn't have that information, but I'd imagine you can pay tuition to go there ... can you wait until Monday morning????

Well ... Union Township schools are in Union Township - not Valpo. You may have a Valpo address, but you're not technically Valpo.

You should be able to keep attending Union Township - BUT you're going to have to pay tuition.

Thanks to both of you for your answers - I had hoped that my instinct was wrong and that it would be possible to go to UT schools but you are likely very correct! I will call on Monday and probably hear the bad news.

I really like Union Township schools and may just have to skip of buying a different house in order to stay in this particular district.

Thanks again - if anyone has any other input I really welcome your insight - thanks!

Can I ask why you are choosing Union Township schools over Valpo? Unless you have a specific reason (size of VHS), that doesn't make sense to me since Valpo schools are superior.

The last time I looked, they're actually VERY similar ranking wise ... in fact, Wheeler's scores may actually be a bit higher.

I do like the smaller school size with a more personalized approach to education due to smaller size. UT schools are superior scoring wise.

I think Union/Wheeler is one of the regions best kept secrets.

I'm guessing they MAY make an exception if your child is close to finishing at that particular school ... like in 5th, 8th or perhaps Junior or Senior. It doesn't hurt to ask.

My daughter has two friends that moved from the middle school in Union over to BF in Valpo ... they (and their parents) are quite happy with the transition - if that makes you feel any better!

Thanks so much for this info - do you happen to know about TJ Middle in Valpo? Would TJ be the school near Flint Lake or would it be BF?

Thanks again
