I'm trying to get internet, but can't find any providers...can't get AT&T Verizon and Frontier web says they don't provide for our address, I was thinking of just calling them...I refuse to go back to Comcast and pay $60/mo for slow speed...and no dial ups either...if u live in Valpo, what do you have?

I'm fairly certain Comcast is your only option.

(AT&T used to be the only high speed internet provider 10 years ago ... until Comcast bought or bullied them out. )

Default Another option many people don't know about/forget..

You can try this provider.

AIRbaud

They have coverage of most of NWI and looking at their coverage map, Valpo seems to be covered. The company did a demonstration in our neighborhood (in Munster) and we could bring out laptops to the local park to test out the service. It was about as fast as Comcast High-speed and MUCH faster than DSL. The only downside is that the service can be pricey depending on the plan you choose. The only reason we use Comcast is because we have the triple-play package (which is economical). Otherwise, we would most likely have AIRbaud. One of our neighbors use AIRbaud and have ever since it became available here. You should give it a shot!

P.S. I find it strange that your Comcast service was slow. Were you using a router and if so, how many computers were using it? Comcast has NEVER been slow for anyone I know.

I live in near the center of town, and I've got Frontier (formerly Verizon). Are you outside the city limits? I wonder why Frontier can't provide service to your address.

Frontier is still Verizon...Dish Network, Frontier, and bunch other companies supply Verizon service...the problem turns out that Verizon covers Valparaiso St but 2 or 3 blocks of it...and we just happen to live on one those blocks they don't cover lol we can't get anyone but Comcast. That AIRbaud company is more expensive than Comcast, so I rather go w/ Comcast

We live in the "boonies" and have gone with using an air card that attaches to our computer. AT&T or Verizon offers them.

Try getting a mobile broadband thing. Its either a card, or a mobile hub that gets internet and sends it wirelessly to your machines. Virgin Mobile now has one too, if you don't want a contract.

I had one from Verizon a couple years ago and the speeds were fine. It dropped out occasionally, but for the price and mobility of it, it was great.

I live in Valpo, not far from downtown. I had netnitco for my ISP since early 1998, but it was dial-up. I finally got fed up with that and in January 2010 switched to Verizon because it was the only DSL available to me. Hated Verizon's service. However, since Verizon sold my account and others to Frontier in August, I've had excellent service.

Wickedpuppet, I'm surprised to hear you live in Valpo but can't get service from Frontier! So........ sorry my post really isn't helpful to you if Frontier says they can't offer you service. That stinks!

Netnitco offers high speed wireless, but it's very expensive.
