Auburn is snowing, blowing and cold! This is our first big snowstorm in 6 years, have been living in the south. I'm fortunate because we have already been told not to show up for work tomorrow, so riding it out at home.

Near the Dunes here.

Not yet getting pummeled, but conditions are slowly deteriorating. The wind is raw. All the Westville Purdue classes and activities on campus and at all satellites were cancelled at 2:00. Tomorrow's activities TBA. Wanna guess?

Lake Station which is next to Gary- snow's coming down steady and winds are really blowing from the east. They let schools out early today around here. Because of the wind, snow is really building up against buildings. It's also sticking to my door. The door is brown normally and is almost all white now. Fun times. Glad this is my last winter here!

As is mine!

What I find weird is the wind from the east, yet the doppler radar shows the system sweeping from west to east as usual. Really weird.

My old home town!!! Went to school there K-12. Hopefully they're taking better care of the roads now than they did way back when I lived there. But it's Lake County so...probably not.

Where are you going to when you leave?

it's now just ice falling from the sky. My trees are almost bent to the ground ... hope they don't snap overnight. When I open the door, it doesn't sound real ... wish I could explain it. A combination of ice softly hitting the ground and the wind blowing the tree banches, which makes them creak.

I noticed that too! I really like watching the radar during storms and following it. Is weird how the wind is plainly blowing from the east yet the storm is moving east.

And congrats on it being your last winter too!

I went to school K-12 too. Been in the area about 25 years. Lake Station is real bad about plowing. They mainly take care of Central Ave. I'll be lucky to see a truck tonight on my street.

My husband and I are sick of the snow in winter and heat in summer. He has kidney failure so has to be careful those times of year. Winter because of pneumonia and summer because of dehydration. Makes it hard to get out of the house. We've decided on western Washington. Probably Port Angeles/Sequim. Weather suits us so much more and plenty of outdoor activities there.

Sounds scary! Since we're so close to the lake, we're still getting plenty of snow. Snow drifts are getting bad here. It's really building up against the door! The yards look kind of cool though with how you can see the lines of the drifts. We're 3rd floor of an apartment and have a good view. Although it's getting harder to see far.

It is really coming down here! Blowing, drifting, snowing and now I can hear ice/sleet against the siding.
