I don't care about Chicago. I'm from NW Indiana, born & raised.

Dan isn't arrogant, he's just being truthful. We remember when Gary was a great city. Now it's just the armpit of Indiana.

Given your obsessive rants about Chicago and Illinois, your cautions about arrogance ring mighty hollow.

rants? i go after cities that cause corruption. Granted most cities in America have corruption to some degree. Most cities though supress it with your police force and whatnot.
I dont like it though when people paint all or gary or any city with 1 brush and call it all lame. Granted theres some great parts about Chicago and Gary amongst all cities. (Heck Grant Part is beautiful and heck my brothers named after it). I am just tired of the constant ranting by mostly Chicago to other midwestern cities. Granted Chicago isn't all 100% of it but when 75% of the useless talk is coming from them then i think its time to change the attitude

Ill clarify what corruption means so people dont get a 100 different meanings for what i am saying. The Political corruption in Chicago is one thing. Not that big of a deal to me and most americans. What is a big deal is the corruption from the city police probably related to the political people that run Chicago and Illinois. Mayors have so much power no surprises there. Another problem i cant stand to think about is the human sex trafficing bust just a few days ago. Not going to go into details on that topic cause its just sad but i think you get what i am saying.
Also the police corruption is probably why crime is picking up. Wouldnt surprise me.

Great story. Now, do you have any useful information for the OP who's looking to get from Midway to Gary?

No. I am just making sure people dont paint gary as 1 terrible place where everyone is evil. If i were the OP i wouldnt want to have that on my mind when i was visiting any city.

Chicago is not going down the tubes like you paint in the posts broadripple
seems you have this personal dislike of chicago and its people take a look at these threads and tell me honestly why you think this way.

You should visit the area and spend a few days traveling the entire metro
i think you may go back to your area with a different outlook on chicago and its burbs

Willis tower also has some very high profile tenants
if United airlines comes to mind its for a good reason

broadripple you obviously do not know the chicago area and i include nwi in that area
the only thing you know what to spout off is high taxes and politics
you only repeat what the negative media spins

Gary, is a hole in the ground yes it literally is 80% in ruins any one who knows the area knows this fact
Even the people who live in Gary run from Gary
Even the Gary/Chicago airport had to throw Chicago in its name to attract things.

Chicago is an alpha city whether you agree to that fact or not
that is an accomplishment that is hard to attain

And since nobody did that, you shouldn't have bothered posting at all.

Yes i do agree with you that some of the hardships gary is facing is brought on the residents. Living in the 60s doesnt work forever. Ill wait and see in about 3-5 years though if Gary uses this great time to turn itself around or just blows it off. Then ill join with the rest of the crowd. So in my eyes this is Gary's last shot dont blow it lol
