First off, Miller and Aetna are two very different places.
That highway 12/20 is a pretty big division. Aetna is pretty much dilapidated all around. I can't think of anything nice to say about it. There are a few White people who live there, but mostly Black and poor(which is a much bigger indicator than race). A lot of potholes and weeds and shacks.
Miller is more of a beach community.
There's plenty of White people in Miller.
A lot never moved during the "white flight" in the '60s and so there's always been older White people in every Miller neighborhood that I've lived in.
There's also the bohemian crowd who like go to the Beach Cafe and stuff like that. The "Fest in the First" is held every year and is usually full of the White people you rarely see out and about.
A lot of the more affluent White people live back in the hills of Miller, near the beach. Lots of Mercedes, Jaguars, and SUV's by Marquette Beach.
There is no racial tension in Miller, because the Whites and Blacks generally have different social circles. The Whites tend to stay to themselves and are rarely seen around here. Not saying that as a good thing or bad thing. You rarely if ever hear about all of the affluent White people being tied up and robbed in there, so discard most of what these people are saying. Whites are safer than Blacks here.
Most crime in Gary is poor Blacks on other poor Blacks. White people are probably the safest people in Gary. I can't remember the last time I've heard of a White person being murdered by "gangstas" in Gary. It just doesn't happen. Unless you are involved in drugs, which is the game changer, but if you go to work every day, live back up in the hills by the beach, then NOTHING will happen to you.
I unlike a lot of these people actually live here and are involved in the community.

Black Oak has no Black people and is as raggedy as it gets. It's like a Jerry Springer episode over there, so . . .

First off,
You might wanna learn about spell check, punctuation, and paragraphs.
Second of all, Clay St. is on the outskirts of Miller, not on the inside. it's more Glen Ryan than Miller. That's not really indicative of how Miller as a whole is.
And third of all, your grandfather seems like an ass.
