I will be moving to Munster to work there. I plan to stay alone for the time being, my family joining me occasionally. So a 1 bed room/2 bed room apt will be OK for me. I will prefer some in Munster or close. On my search, I do not find any in Munster. Mostly, the search ends in Griffith, Merrilville, Lansing area.

What and where would be a good, safe and affordable area (would like around $600)? Any suggestions highly appreciated.

I can tell you right now that you will not be able to pay only $600 for a one bedroom apartment in Munster. IF there is any available, it would be most likely north f $750 excluding utilities and an old place. You would have to get a two bedroom and have a roommate in order to be closer to $600. You will probably have the same issue in Lansing as the taxes there are much higher and will be factored into rental price. Your next best bet may be south Hammond. It is more affordable and there are some decent rental opportunities. However, most of those rentals are single-family homes or duplexes with 2-3 rooms and you would probably need roommates. You will most likely have to increase your budget to at least $750-800 for a 1 bedroom place and probably north of that for 2+ bedrooms.

You will probably have the most rental opportunities in Merrillville as there are more apartment communities there but you have to be careful where in that town you rent because of safety concerns.

So you talking about at least $1000 month for a 2br apt in Munster?! This seems quite high! Anything cheaper in North Dyer and still be in the Munster HS school district?

anywhere from about $800-$1000 is about the norm and they won't be any newer places. The School Town of Munster boundaries is the same as the corporate boundaries for the Town of Munster. If you live outside the boundaries, you would need to pay tuition to attend Munster schools, and it is not cheap. Also, the children at minimum need to have a "B" or "3.0" GPA and no behavioral issues. I know they typically look for students with 3.5 GPA if they would like to attend. Most of the tuition students are from the Briar Ridge neighborhood and much fewer from south Hammond and Highland.

You saying they can be denied if they don't carry over a 3.0 GPA?
If you live in Munster, you children are allowed to go to the school district they live in only.
Is there an age limit on attending High School?

Yes. Unless it is court ordered, a school in indiana does not have to accept out-of-district students under any circumstance.

Children are guaranteed attendance to schools that they are zoned to. If another school district allows tuition students, then that is another option. But not a guarantee.

I don't know what the minimum age of attending high school is. However, I do believe that the maximum age for traditional students is up until the 21st birthday.

I mean denied to continue to attend the school that falls in the district he lives in, because his GPA falls below the schools required 3.0.
Yes its up to the school if they accept students from another district, and then you must pay tuition as well.

The GPA baseline is pretty much just for admission into the school, not maintenance. However, I am not exactly sure whether the school could kick out a transfer student whose GPA falls below their identified baseline.
