What makes Crown Point nice?
In various threads some members have indicated that they like Crown Point as a place to live in NW Indiana.
Is it really such a nice place? Is it too close to the corn fields?
what's your comment?

The little things that I know about it is that it has a nice downtown square and decent geographical location and somewhat of a semi-country culture.
Am I that far off or close to the point?

The kids that live in the "country" come into school, thats about it.
The time is nearing when Rt 53 will be totally developed between CP and Merrillville, likewise for Rt 53 (Broadway). Strack & VanTil has just opened a new store, along with Walgreens on Broadway. There are many more businesses that are located on Broadway, with more to come.
CP is a nice town. I've lived there, plus Merrillville, Griffith & Hammond. I would choose CP over all of them if I wanted to live in Lake County.

Dunno much about Crown Point(as I've unfortunately never traveled to that town), except that it's a growing community that is much like what artemis said. It's also the county seat of Lake County(Ind.) too.
Munster is another really nice community in Lake County that I'd recommend checking out, besides just CP. It also has the advantage of being closer to Chicago, which may be a perk you'd prefer having. But hey, I feel bad I can't better respond to your post, since you seemed vague in your post as to the type of place you were considering moving to.

As a former resident of Crown Point, I HIGHLY recommend the area. My family moved from C.P. to Virginia in 1986, but I would move back if I could. It has a great small town feel. The people are friendly, and the community is close knit. I have been gone since I was 15- I am now 37- but there is still a special place in my heart for the town. I have lived in MANY places, and none come close to Crown Point.
I hope you consider the area. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Good luck.

CP is considered a nice town. From what I know, one can live there without being too wealthy and have a safe neighborhood for them and their family with a strong school system. For those who are more affluent, there are high end housing options for them as well.
I wouldn't say it's too close to the corn fields. It's a bit further from IL and Chicago than Munster/S'ville/Dyer; this can be both bad and good depending on your vantage point.

That's the place. The movie that is coming out soon that has Johnny Depp playing Dillinger, actually filmed in the same jail.
