Some more happenings in Hammond:

'Cutting-Edge,' Green Tech Center Coming to Hammond - Inside INdiana Business

First some additional information on the proposed data center at the site of the former State Line Generating Plant (still wish at least some part of that beautiful building, or at least it's gate house could have been saved). The project is to include:
- 400,000 sf data center
- Alternative energy campus (solar panels and wind turbines)
- 4000 sf greenhouse (Purdue classes may be taught here)
- 10,000 sf business incubator

Hammond touts redesign, new amenities at Hessville Park - Post-Tribune

Second, two articles on all of the work happening in Hammond's Parks this year. This includes the four parks with pools that were closed last summer. Pulaski Park on the north side will essentially get a new pool, with water slides, lap swim area, and splash pad. Hessville Park and MLK Park in central Hammond will have their pools replaced with interactive water features along with other major improvements throughout, while the Edison Park pool is being replaced by a soccer field, skate park, and agility adventure zone.

Other parks receiving improvements include Dowling Park (now with a dog park), Columbia Park which received sand volleyball courts and many new trees. These join additional park improvements made last year including new playground equipment at Indi Illi Park. I think all of this is definitely positive improvements for each of the neighborhoods.
