I live on a decent spread for about the same reason I don't live in Hammond; because that option is available to me. Sorry those options aren't available to you

You do realize that this entire thread is NOT about living in Hammond right?

You continue to make comments about the sad, pathetic people who live there (who at the very minimum live with living, breathing humans and not bovine) even though this thread has nothing to do with residing in Hammond.

Please stay on topic.

Why don't we have a banging-the-head-on-the-table emoticon?

I am not a sad soul, nor am I unwillingly living in Hammond. I live a completely normal life, in which I am not scared for my life to leave my house late at night. I have chosen to live in Hammond, even though I have the ability to move further south into Highland and Munster. I am happy here.

People make bad choices constantly. Just because you chose to live in Hammond doesn't mean much, as far as anything goes.
As far as 'feeling safe', give it time... Eventually, in Hammond, you'll learn the hard way.

Right. It has to do with using the Hammond train station.

Chuckity: ITS TOTALLY SAFE AT THE HAMMOND TRAIN STATION!

Me: Haha, no, it isn't. (posts crime stats for that zip code)

Chuckity: (attempts some lame 'Whataboutisms' regarding St Augustine, FL) ... BUT THE TRAIN STATION IS SAFE!

Me: Haha, no, it isn't. (posts article about an old man who got robbed there a couple weeks ago)

Chuckity: Uh, well, uh... (changes topic)

You devolving-neighborhood boosters are just sad.
Hammond, Hegewisch, East Side, Whiting, Cal City, that whole crap area.

I am sorry your lives resolve back to a place that has taken such a hard step down, but its your choice to stay there... Or, if you have no other choice, then bless your heart. Best of luck.

How did such a superior person as yourself come to know so much about such a lowly area?

Here's what's sad: someone who is so obsessed with an area that he/she does not live and feels the need to sputter on about something they really don't have first hand knowledge of.

I wonder why that is?

You don't live in the Region. You've probably never lived in the Region.

But yet, you're obsessed over telling the world (or at least the people who read CD) how dangerous the Hammond South Shore train stop is.

(Psssst ... it's really not.)

Add in the fact that you surround yourself with cows (and seem proud of it!) ... and this thread is getting reeeaaaallllly strange.

I didn't make a bad choice, and could learn "the hard way" if I lived in a different town.
I have a cousin who lives in an apartment in Crown Point. A couple of years ago, a tenant in the same Crown Point apartment building, which they knew very well, was murdered in their own apartment.

...I guess the victim learned the hard way...

This thread is about the safety of the Hammond South Shore train station. Trying to use crime stats from an entire city to characterize one train station within that city is pretty silly.

It would be like if I claimed how stupid people are in St. Augustine, and then linked a website (or two) about stupid people are in the state of Florida.
