Ive complained many of times to superintendant and Principle the superintendants office said they dont do inner District transfers and I herd from a Teacher from Highland school that we are one of the only states that offer inner district school transfers, any info would be great! Iluv---I don't really have any specific answers to your questions. One thought though. Is the school making adequate yearly progress under the "no child left behind" act? If not, you must be given the option of transferring to another school. Other than that, it's up to individual districts to determine the rules regarding transfers.

I attended Ready from K-7 decades ago. (the fact that I included grade 7 gives you an idea about how long ago it was.) My siblings also attended the school. At that time it was an awesome neighborhood school. Much of what I've done in my life can be attributed to the teachers I had there and what I learned from them. I have mostly wonderful memories about the school and teachers. I know the school has changed a lot since then. I am curious as to what the problem at Ready is if you care to elaborate.

I've heard grumblings from parents in Griffith about the "changes" the school has undergone in the past several years. The Mansards Apartment complex is within the Ready boundaries and some people don't want their kids going to school with the children of residents from those apartments.

Hello
Yes I have adressed several issues with that school. So many students get away with so much and the good kids are getting in trouble for stupid stuff like jumping off a swing. Or throwing snow balls but The "bad ones who preceed to torment call names yell badger helpless younger kids are bs.
The office ladies are down right rude.Told me after I moved in 6 months I should say after being here I didnt have my Indiana DL so they turned me in to the local police?? Its that any of there buisness??? The office ladies gossip to now end to other teacher then it gets back around to the parents! Its just unbelieveable and yes The Mansards are a problem here! Its unbelieveable!!!! I wont even get started on that line

The Mansards used to be really nice back in the day. What a shame they have gone downhill.

My in-laws lived there in the late 80's to early 90's. They moved out because at their age they felt so vulnerable.

I have been away from NW indiana for a long time. When I lived in Glen Park The Mansards over in Griffith were "the place" to live. I have seen in a few posts that they are bad now. What do y'all mean by that? just curious.

Lt. Dan---back when I grew up within walking distance of the Mansards--at least the South Mansards, there were some regulations put into place before they were built regarding who could live there--income standards and family size I think. I know when my aunt and uncle were going to have a second child, they had to move out of the Mansards. At some point in the last 2 decades those regulations expired. It opened up the way for section 8 tenants is my understanding. Before anyone jumps on me regarding Section 8 tenants, I would like to say if I was a landlord, I would actively seek out Section 8 tenants.

The Mansards does not accept Section 8. That's a rumor that originated from stereotypes because of the increase of black families in the complex.

There is virtually no crime in the Mansards (just ask the police department--I did, because I have a close family member that moved there). It is a huge complex with a population of over 4,000 so, naturally, there are going to be noise issues. It gets a bad rap because of the aforementioned rising black population, but it is still a nice place to live.

4,000 people in an apartment complex???? Wouldn't that qualify them for their own zip code???

I KNOW!! I was shocked when the officer told me that. They make up 25% of Griffith's population.
