Annex the Region?
Do you really think mapping a Cook County and Chicago tax onto the Region is a good idea? How about the infamous water bottle tax and the forbidding of certain foods that some people think are immoral? I understand where you are coming from with respect the rest of Indiana not "getting" us, but you'd better think that one through.
By the way, the answer to the question regarding the Region deserving it's own forum is: Yes. We are not like the rest of the state, nor are any other people from downstate qualified to answer questions regarding the Region.

There has been talk about that for years. It will never happen because Indy likes the tax revenue they get from our corner of the State.

I seem to recall awhile back Mayor Pastrick actually suggested that Center Twp in Lake County secede from the state completely and be independent!

Hey domer, I never heard that but I did hear after Gary, E.C., and Hammond got the boats in, they wanted to break away from Lake County, so they wouldn't have to share the revenue. Sounds about right, after the entire county carries those towns for a long time, when they finally get a good flow of money coming in, they want to keep it all for themselves.

So do you think NW Indiana diserves a separate section in this Indiana forum like Indy does?

NW Indiana already have its own forum/section. When you click on Indiana, there are two main sections; Indianapolis & NW Indiana. So I don't know how you miss that.
