Shipshewanna, Indiana just won the "Best Life" small town award, that makes you feel like you are living in a Hallmark movie. Soo.. did/does anyone actually live there? Speak of your wisdom.

Well, if you want to live somewhere overrun with tourists for most of the year it might be nice. Middlebury is much the same but not the same # of tourists. Sure wonder what strange criteria they are using.

Shipshewanna used to be a destination trip for us 25+ years ago when the crafts were artist made and local people shopped there. It truly was a very!! small town. Now it is full of imports and there is nothing to make us want to drive 3 hours one way.

Quilters and crafters go there for the organized retreats held at the modern hotels with conference rooms. Couple of good quilt fabric shops but I have those here so it is not a draw anymore. Many decades ago they were discount fabric stores worth a visit but they both have transitioned to full price retail stores.

I have always wanted to visit the flea market but I don't know a soul that is interested in crafts and antiques. Traveling there alone is not appealing. Are there any groups that go down or caravan??
