I'm from good ole' Lake County! I was on another thread and someone mentioned things known, heard, or said by people who are from "the region." She mentioned my favorite commercial (not really, it's just catchy!) "588-2300-EMPIIIIIIIRE"... LOL. I only hear that when I'm in Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland and also those pesky "Moo & Oink" radio commercials...
What is something on the TV or radio, or maybe even otherwise that is exclusive to Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland area? |

Not really a commercial per se, but I'm Hardrock, I'm Coco, I'm Joe ...
YouTube - Hardrock, Coco, and Joe remember this?? YouTube - The Loop FM 98 - "Lorelei Lip-Syncing" (Commercial, 1980?)

I think Empire's a national company now though.
I remember being in the south not too long ago, hearing the commerical on a local station, and about falling off my chair. |

Yep, we get Empire Carpet commercials in Nashville now.
The first time I heard it on TV here, I stopped dead in my tracks & had to watch it. My husband didn't know what to think! |

I think one of the unique and best things about Empire is how they say five eight eight-TWO THREE hundred itstead of the proper five eight eight-TWENTY THREE Hundred.
![]() Or is it really five eight eight-two THREE HUNDRED? Nevermind... ![]() |
