It's been a few years since I've been up in that area, but I think I would go for the place on Clark St (east of Indianapolis Blvd.) The other one is a bit closer to establishments I always thought of as "shady" as it is closer to the Skyway with a less residential feel. Generally Whiting is a pretty safe community overall though.

Well talking with the landlord yesterday i was told that currently the two on clark street are taken but that is subject to change and that she has a vacency in the one north of inde for the time being. Told me that if i wanted to get into the one on the north side and then when the others opened up she would be happy to let me move into the clark st. set. we'll see i guess.
so generally the north side of indenapolis blvd is a no no or what?

No, I wouldn't say that necessarily. The first time I looked at the map it looked like it backed up to a place I remember as a restaurant/gas station or something like that.

I think it should be fine on Brown St.

Hopefully another person with Whiting knowledge will check in for you.

I don't know much about Whiting, I was thinking of moving there 2 years ago. It is an older area, but not a bad area. If you are worried about safety, Indiana is a CCW state, which means if you own a handgun, you can get a permit to carry a concealed handgun. Remember its not the people with permits you have to worry about, its the people without them like in Chicago.

Default Whiting Resident

North of 119 St. is considered Robertsdale (mostly)
It`s decent all over town w/exceptions like everywhere.
The Brown Av. is a nice area
