Does anyone commute from South Bend to Chicago?
I am curious if anyone actually commutes from South Bend to Chicago for a job? I moved to the SB area last year and finding employment has been a challenge. I thought I would have more opportunities in Chicago but when I took the South Shore for a weekend trip to the windy city I couldnt imagine doing it everyday as a means of going to work. But what do I know. I did see some people commuting to work, most of them slept and I wasnt about to walk over and say "hey...how ya doing.. are you commuting to work?"

I think there are some that do it, but man, you are spending your life in a train! And then with the time change .. even worse!

Not to be a smart aleck, but take the sleeping commuters as a sign of what the commute is like.

When I lived outside Dallas TX my daily one-way commute time was 90 min+ and if there was a accident you could add another 1-2 hours to that. Needless to say that got old fast spending 3-5 hours each day just commuting plus a 9-11 hour work day leaves no time for the important things like family. Did this for 3 years and finally found work closer to home, less pay but a lot less headache and more quality time. The South Shore is ok to use to visit Chicago but unless you want no life it is not worth it for employment (unless you are making lots of money and plan on moving there soon).

I figured it would be a too long of a commute but was curious and hopeful. Ahh well. I will find something eventually.

If you could pull a gig where you wouldn't have to do it everday ... work from home a couple days a week, then it probably wouldn't be as bad, but that's an awful long time to spend in the vomit comet.
