Relocating to Kentland....
Well, my fiance and I have bought a house in Kentland, we move in on July 10.
I would like any suggestions as to where local grocery stores, Walmart, etc are.
I've never spent any time that far south, so I have no idea where anything is locally down there.
Thanks in advance.

Don't know much about Kentland except it is too small (less than 2000 residents) to support much of what you ask about. You might use these web addresses ( http://www.city-data.com/city/Kentland-Indiana.html and http://www.amazon.com/gp/yp/geo/IN/Kentland/104-6424470-0375168 (broken link)) to gather a few points of information. Watseka IL is about 30 minutes west, Lafayette IN is about 50 minutes southeast, Rensselaer In is about 45 minutes northeast and Monticello IN is about 50 minutes east. They are probably the closest cities large enough for a Walmart. Good luck in your new home. My kids competed against the Newton county schools in sports, but that has been a few years ago. The kids from those schools always seemed well mannered.

Hello. I have spent quite some time in Morocco, Indiana, the next town north of Kentland. The people in Morocco are the friendliest people you will ever meet. I'd guess that the same would go for Kentland, of which I have been to once or twice. It is big enough where it has maybe one or two grocery stores, the nearest Wal-Mart is quite a commute and the schools aren't academically advanced but the kids are genuine and down to earth. Hope this helps!

Relocating to Kentland
Kentland is an extremely small Indiana town and doesn't offer much at all. Just the kind of place many want to leave to seek opportunity elsewhere.
I can think of several other medium size cities in Indiana which would be much better and offer more than Kentland.

I grew up in Otterbein Indiana (about 1100) people at the time. Attended Purdue Univeristy in West Lafayette (about 29,000 when students are around). Lived in Indianapolis area for 12 years (about 1,000,000 people) and am not back in Benton County (county about 7 miles south of Kentland).
I am happy to be back in a small community. My kids go to a great school in Fowler Indiana (Sacred Heart School; www.sacredheartfowler.org - Sacred Heart of Fowler), the crime is low, the pace slower and my stress level has dropped tremendously. We are renting now in Oxford Indiana, but plan to buy in Fowler within a year.
In terms of schools, if you have pre-school/pre-K/K-6, there are several families that send their kids to Sacred Heart.
