Moving to the area - tell me what you like about your town (Schererville: public schools)

We are relocating for my husband's job in University Park, IL. We are looking at perhaps living in NW Indiana. Some of the areas we have checked out online and driving by are Crown Point, St. John, Schererville. Good public schools are top of our list as well as having a little land...a couple of acres would be nice. I would love to hear about where you live, what you like, what you don't like, your thoughts on public schools, fun things to do in the area. Thanks for your time and your input
