Default Relocating to Porter County Area - Need some help

Hi - we are relocating to the area in the summer and we are having a hard time feeling out and finding a good neighborhood to move into in the Chesterton /valpo area. We have two children one in high school and a toddler. We like the Windsor Park and Beauty Creek neighborhoods and the wagner hills neighbor hood as well. Unfortunately there are a ton of homes for sale in all three subdivisions. This of course is a red flag for us so we are very hesitant. A ton of homes are on the market across Chesterton/porter and valpo and and not enough time to view all of them. Could someone share some opinions of the area and area's that are best for children, family life and which area's to stay away from?

The Shorewood Subdivision in Valparaiso is nice, every subdivision right now has for sale signs unfortunately, including Shorewood, but it's pretty stable.

Shorewood feeds into Wheeler schools, if that makes a difference. As for the amount of homes for sale, I wouldn't let that deter you, it's the market ... lots of people lost jobs and need to move.
