As a male in his mid 20s that just moved from Indiana for work purposes, I think I can help you out.

Cost of living is loooooooow in Fort Wayne, depending on how much you want to spend you can live very comfortably for 500 dollars a month. Most one bedrooms are in the 350-500 range, while many 2 bedrooms are in the 500 to 700 a month. Gas is quite a bit cheaper as well, I'm from Chicago, and sure the gas is really expensive here, but usually Fort Wayne prices are 20 cents or more cheaper.

Night life??

Depends on what you want. Fort Wayne has the largest night club facility in the midwest called Pierre's. It is huge, with like 5 different clubs in one. Downtown has decent bars with Columbia Street West, a club/bar that usually focuses on local music. Henry's, an artsy bar with good food. The Brass Rail is the punk bar. There are others, but, they aren't hard to find, tons of bars in town. Also, summer time has tons of outdoor festivals.

Diversity??

The city is not all that diverse. I believe it is about 70 percent white, mostly people of German descent. It is a fairly conservative city, however they have a Democratic mayor because a Republican scandal when I was living there. They do have an active Democratic party, it is just small and young, the vast majority of the old timers are Republican. There is a huge Burmese population, the largest outside of Burma.

Women???

It is the same as any mid sized city. There are tons of women if you are looking for them.

Go ahead and PM me for any specifics.

I lived in Fort Wayne from my mid 20's to mid 30's all single and yes I am a male and was single. I miss Fort Wayne some times - so easy to get around and there are nice areas of fort Wayne.

brainiac - I have to take exception to your price for a 1 bedroom apt. I lived there from 1993 - through 2003 and my 1 bedroom aptds ranged from a low of $489 per month in 1993 to $629 per month in 2003. They were fairly nice on the southwestside Abiote area. I would suspect anything less than $600 now would be either in bad areas or old and run down. JMO

I recently visited Parkview Field. Great minor league park if you are into that sort of thing. They are building condos out in left field along Jefferson (? I think that is Jefferson) Blvd. Regardless, I like FTW, that area just west of downtown is nice too if you are interested in "urban" Fort living.

When did Fort Wayne more to NW Indiana by the way?

Nah, I had a nice 1 bedroom in West Central for 350 for one year. I had another nice apartment at a nice complex in the North East side for 420, you can easily find a nice place to live for those prices. Also, I had a nice apartment at 3 Rivers for 500 for a one bedroom, though I have heard they have raised rates. Those prices are pretty comparable for Aboite though, however, I don't know who would actually WANT to live there unless they are maybe raising a family, it is so stale on the city's Southwest, and Northeast side, for that matter.
