Default I-65 in Lake County

Question for you folks, the digital traffic signs in Indianapolis speak of major construction and traffic back-ups on I-65 in NWI. Is this true? I am driving to Milwaukee next week, and am wondering if the potential traffic headache should be bypassed.

I-65 has been opened up to allow traffic to continue on to the Toll Road and Skyway. When that was cut off, it was a major nightmare. You may still encounter some delays getting onto 80/94 westbound, but it should be manageable, depending on the time of day. Of course, you could always continue onto the Skyway and take it to the Dan Ryan.

The other thing you have to be aware of is the I-65 resurfacing project going on around Winamac. There will be signs around Rennsalear warning you of any delays with that.

Safe travels to you.

Taking I65 to get on 80/94 westbound during rush hour is a nightmare.

It goes from 3 lanes, to 2 to 1.

All that stupid work that did NOTHING to help the flow of traffic towards Chicago.

By all means, if you are going to Milwaukee, take the Indiana Toll Road (I-90) to the Skyway, and continue up I-90 until you get North of the City where you can hook-up with I-94.

Do not take 80-94 Westbound off of I-65. It's a giant parking lot.
