Default michigan city to chicago

hi! i'm planning a trip from michigan city to chicago in june. i heard about a train that goes from michigan city to chicago, and has really cheap tickets. Do you know if these train tickets are bought in advance? or would they have enough tickets if i just showed up the day of, and bought the tickets then. one more questions, are the tickets really $6 or $7... that seems so inexpensive!
thanks for any help you could give!

Try the South Shore line : http://www.nictd.com/service/schedules.htm

Do you really not know? The South Shore line will take you from 11th Street in Michigan City to Randolph Street in Chicago. There are several other stops on the way, but Randolph Street is downtown Chicago. You can buy them in advance, although I have never needed to do so. Day of trip, even on the train is acceptable. Chicago is a little faster paced than MC but be aware of your surroundings as you should be anywhere. Have fun, Chicago is a blast!
