President,National Autism Association,Northwest Indiana Chapter. I already heard about the school doing that, I found that online, which is really bad for autistic kids, the more you allow them to be around there peers the more the flourish, how else do you learn to be social?

I am hoping the other group will have more info. But like I said I am really good at rocking a boat. I had to fight for him when we lived in a small town before MB.
I chatted with my former neighbor in Valpo and she totally agrees with the assessment you received. It's too bad and I'm really sorry.

I found a message board of Valpo moms of autistic kids, and some of them are positive then others. So I think it has a lot to do with if you move here with a IEP already, which we will have and they have to follow his IEP we bring for so long I believe is how it works.

That IEP is a powerful tool. I'd stick with the valpo mom's message board on this one. sounds like you'd have a built in support group before you even move, which really helps!!

That's actually midway between Valpo and Wheeler (which is west of Valpo.)

Wheeler schools too.

Not a bother at all.

But this isn't Valpo or Chesterton - it's Portage.

If you're concerned about the schools, I'd look into the differences at greatschools.net.
