Michigan city warning (Sheridan: apartments, rent, neighborhood)

Recent events at the apartments at 143 Fogarty St. confirm neighborhood suspicions that the landlord (who also owns the "Sheridan House" next door) is a slumlord who will rent to anybody to make a buck. The 19 year old female tenant in the lower apartment recently terrorized a newcomer couple into leaving after living there only a month. We witnessed her racial vitrol toward them. Speaking with the couple before they left also confirmed our suspicion that crystal meth
manufacture and distribution is also likely taking place there. The odors, which
were not only annoying, but led to health dysfunction in their short stay, as well
as the incessant comings and goings throughout certain nights (ALL NIGHT, at 20-30 minute intervals) were all consistent with online descriptions of crystal
meth lab operation. We've complained to the police and the building inspector,
but as yet there's been no action. We fear there will be none because the
landlord is the husband of a respected business woman in the community,
whose company sponsors community events. But we're suspecting an extremely
ugly underbelly. There's no way this foul-mouthed, 19 year old tenant should be able to afford an apartment in this area. And it defies reason that any sane landlord that wasn't up to something no good would side with her against the caliber of people whom we witnessed him castigating.
