When I contracted it there, I was told that the nearest BEST doctor could be found in Louisville, KY. If you have Lyme or know someone who has been diagnosed with it, please do keep searching until you find a physician who takes the diagnosis seriously and will begin aggressive treatment immediately as this disease is very aggressive and debilitating. I had to fight and fight and create a scene in the ER in NW Indiana just to get a Lyme Disease test because of the misconception that was present in 1995 that "there are no deer ticks in NW Indiana" (ER doctor's words to me). Sure enough, when the results came back, I was positive for it and advanced. I felt too sick to make the trip so I began a very strong regimen of natural holistic treatment, and Thank God it worked. I haven't had a problem since. There are a great deal of misconceptions and falsehoods associated with this disease (like you must have a deer tick on you or a bullet-shaped rash; the disease is gotten from a tick's first feeding on a mouse; it is a bacteria gotten from a mouse, and I had no bullet-shaped rash ever), especially in areas where it isn't an epidemic so do your research, be proactive, and demand appropriate medical care (usually IV antibiotics). Good luck!
