I appreciate all the help everyone has been very helpful. Unfortunatly my husband didn't get the job so we will not be moving to Indiana.

I live in Black Oak from 1950 to 1961. I would definitely not recomment this area for a multitude of reasons. Poor housing options, and general economics of the area. It is located in an area called Calumet Township. Extend your choices to Hessville area, Griffith, Highland and Hobart or further south to Ross township. Search Library records for the statistics and demographics. Good luck in your search
