Default La Lumiere School(La Porte,IN) vs Lake Forest Academy(Lake Forest,IL)

I am thinking of going to either La Lumiere School in La Porte or Lake Forest Academy in Lake Forest
Where should I go?
Which town is nicer?
Which is closer to major cities?

They are about equidistant to Chicago, LFA to the north and LL to the east. Both have train access. At one point, LL had it's own south shore train stop (not sure if it still does).

Not sure about LFA, but LL has it's fair share of troubled youth who's parents send them there to straighten out ... Chris Farley being one of them back in the day ... didn't take. But the school did churn out the chief justice of the supreme court, so that's impressive. I remember when we played against them in volleyball. All the students were required to attend, which I was ok with, BUT, they all had to leave their uniform jackets on and only when all took them off, were they allowed to do so, that creeped me out.

Lake Forest is nicer. Pricey, but nicer. LaPorte...is LaPorte. Not much to do, and a little rednecky.

LFA is not in the middle of a swamp, like LaLumiere.

As far as towns go Lake Forest is nothing like La Porte. I do not want to say that Lake Forest is "nicer" because that is a very subjective statement. But as far as lifestyles go, Lake Forest is definitely an upper middle to upper class area and La Porte is lower middle to middle class with a few upper middle here and there...the prices of homes in each town speaks for itself. Personally, if it means anything to you, I think Lake Forest is nicer because it suits my lifestyle (more high-end amenities), but that is just me. Good luck in your decision!

I think that LaLumiere is attractive to parents BECAUSE it's out in the boonies. I remember the long long isolated road the school is on ... the last time I was there was 1985 and I doubt it's any less in the boonies.

I think LFA attracts a more white collar crowd. Is LFA residential like LL?

I'm pretty sure LFA has half commuters and half boarding students. LFA also has a very large international population, many of whom are exchange students from Korea.
