I went with PODS also..NY-Maui $8500....I liked the convenience of having it floor level and not 4ft in the air, requiring a ramp.. Plus they'll store it for you until you need the POD shipped..Mine is still in San Diego at $265/mnth.....Unfortunately they don't have a storage facility in Maui so I have to get an address before they'll send it.

Overall a bit cheaper and more convenient than Matson....Only drawback is the POD is 4ft shorter than Matsons' small container...

Mahalo for the info on Pods. I didn't see that they shipped to Hawaii. ( I looked on the site, oh well!)
Sounds like a comparative deal.
Are they quick??

Pods type shipping is a great alternative to full service movers or ocean containers if you only have enough to fill one of those crates. Cubic feet to cubic feet, containers are the cheapest method of shipping to Hawaii, and pod crates near the top. But if you have a small load that can fit into the crate, you might as well pay more for less cublc feet than less per cubic feet but with a lot of empty space your paying for.

Pods sounds like a great alternative but unfortunately they don't ship to the Big Island.

Now have a quote from ABF for one of their "Relo-Cubes" 8x7x6'

$3000. for the same move.

Seems like a much better deal than the small POD, but a bit less space too.

Probably closer to 1/2 the space.. The POD is 16x8.....But that's sounds like a really good deal for those odds and ends that have to be shipped. Could even fit a couch or two......

I just got a quote today for a PODS from Washington state to Maui. It will be $6900. I got a quote a while back from Matson, it was around $5500.

I like PODS because we can take our time to pack things securely (3 motorcycles) and fit in anything else that will fill in the holes!!

I know, I know, NO couches, No dining set, I don't care about that stuff!! I just want what I can't get cheaper in HI, like my new king mattress!!!! I get the rest at yard sales!!!!
