I'm fairly sure I know the answer to my question.

Has anyone who has lived in the town of Kailua (on Oahu) in the 70's know of a place in this time period that even comes remotely close?
I know I can never go back in time to the 70's or that Kailua would never be like it was back in the day, but I have to at least try and find my Paradise lost.

Even if its only just barely kinda vaguely similar, I would love to know.

And to all the good folks that lived there back in the day and read this. you were awesome! chances are I know you by name.

I lived there then, and I live there now.

Of all the places I have ever lived and gone back to (and I have lived a BUNCH of places), I think it is the least changed.

I'll put together some photos of places you would recognize.

Hank

Kailua, HI - Google Maps

These are all photos taken for Google maps, in the last couple of years. You can wander around yourself. Go here, and drag the little brown man to any blue colored road on the map (it turns blue when you start dragging):

Thanks for the photos Hank, It left Hawaii only 6 years ago. in search of a new place to live.
I was hoping someone from Hawaii may have found someplace comparable to what Kailua was back in the day. Leaving in Portland is far from it. it is way to big and the folks to cold for my taste. I hear that Costa Rica is the new Kailua, never been there and it hear its already to expensive to live there.
