Narrowing down an area to live --- Kakaako vs. Makiki/Punchbowl?
I have noticed Kakaako rent is pretty high but really nice area.
Makiki / Punchbowl is cheaper and a pretty good area.
The cost in rent is like $1600 versus $2200 so that's pretty good difference. I can afford up to $2500 but of course who wants to pay that, especially since I am used to paying $1600.
I have looked specifically at these condo buildings (or have gotten recommendations).
-- 909 Kapiolani
-- Moana Pacific
-- 1201 Wilder (Wilder At Piikoi)
What are the pros/cons (besides the cost) of living in both of these two areas. To be Kakaako seemed in general more "nicer" looking where Makiki there were some "not nice" looking buildings near "nice" buildings.
I am a young professional female and I enjoy being able to have restaurants nearby and things to do not far away. Which would be the safest for me?

Are you going to be working downtown or by Ala Moana? 909 or Moana Pacific means you can potentially walk to work - and save parking.
Moana Pacific is closer to Ala Moana for nitelife if important - 909 closer to downtown/chinatown. Moana Pacific is probably in the "safest" zone. Although 909 is a close second.
1201 Wilder north of H1 seems not as desirable if young/single if you can afford the other places.

I will actually be working out of town. But I can't stand to live in any of these small towns outside of the city. I'm okay driving.
I do enjoy nightlife somewhat. From what I have found 909 is cheaper than Moana -- and they are not that far away from each other... ? How late do buses run and are there any cabs? I could drive a short distance for nightlife.

Cabs are a little easier at Moana Pacific since it is closer to Ala Moana Center but you'll find cabs at 909 easy as well as it is by Blaidsdell Center.
909 is cheaper - things get a little cheaper West of Piiokoi on Kapiolani. You'll do fine either building - find a unit in either building you really like.
I'll edit to add - Ive been at Moana Pacific a lot - the pool and gym are very nice. Haven't been to the 909 building.

That building is a little closer to Waikiki - the neighborhood is fine. I think you'll need to check the amenities of all 3 and see what you like.
