depends on where you live and dont make your kids walk home from school or walk to school by themselves. Oahu is full of paedophiles (registered sexual predators).
North shore is safer because it's country life style. The city is full of weirdos from mainland.
The sickos hangout along the beaches where kids are surfing so becareful. They are easy to spot they normally have cameras and they will take pictures and videos of kids.
Thanks for the heads up on first day of school. I have taken my daughter for a checkup and up to date vaccinations. I had her doctor fill out the dept of education student's health record that I found on Hawaii's .gov website. We also have her dental form completed. I know there will be more to the preparation, however, I believe the remainder will have to wait until we find housing, so we can look for something close, and evaluate the choices. At first I was thinking private, but have heard that there are public schools that have good ratings. As you mentioned (OpenD), that will depend on where we live. Are there any other preparations I might be overlooking?

Crystal, forget about Hawai'i for now. What you need is immediate support, right now, right where you are.
Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800 799-7233. They can point you to the support you need.
Good luck.
