How long does it take a regular letter to get to Oahu from the mainland?

I get regular mail from Chicago to Kailua as fast as I got it from Chicago to San Francisco - first class mail is put on a plane.

We get stuff pretty fast, it's the other direction that seems to be a bit slower. (i.e. Oahu to Dallas)

USPS Service standards are four days for First Class, coming or going.

If it's just a letter in an envelope with a stamp, is that considered standard mail?

If that is the case and I'm using the map correctly it could be 13 or 21 days... does that sound right?

We mailed the application like that on Monday the 8th. I called them today and they said they haven't got it yet...

Thanks!

I'll send a simple birthday card with a plain old stamp and it will get from Oahu to NY (metro area) in 3-4 days. Going from NY to Oahu, same amount of time.

Thanks for your responses...
If I sent it Monday of last week it should of been there by now I'm so stressed... It had a check in it for $40 for the application fee, plus the paperwork.

I wonder if I should write them another check, fill it out again and send it priority? It has to make it by Aug 6th!

Delivery can go faster, which it often does, but I give a full week before I start wondering where the mail is stuck (this applies to both Oahu mail and neighbor island mail).

What kind of application is this?

IME, priority mail is not delivered significantly faster than regular first class mail. If this mail is really important to you I'd considered sending it by certified mail, return receipt requested. The receiver has to sign a card when the letter/package is received and then you get that card returned to you. Then you know they really got it and you're not left wondering.

This has to be done at the post office. Not sure what it costs now but probably less than $10. Worth it for the peace of mind, I think.
