Would you please help me with something? Besides, your Auntie's house, where is the most authentic Luau in Oahu? If it is at a hotel, will they allow non-hotel guests? I will be going with my wife and two young sons, so if it is near the beach, or on a grassy lawn etc, that would be great if they can run around before and after the meal. Also, do they ever do these earlier in the day, like maybe on the weekends? My youngest starts sleeping at 6:30-7:00. The area we will be staying is Kailua for about two weeks over Christmas.

Thank-you very much!

Sorry, I know this is one of the biggest Cliche questions, but I didn't find it already when searching the titles of previous posts in this forum.

Here's what comes up in a search for Luau with the Hawaii Visitors Bureau:

The one I hear the most about, in terms of remote setting, on a quiet beach, etc. is at Paradise Cove, which is on the opposite side of the Island from Kailua. 32 miles, about 45 minutes, almost all freeweay:

The hotel Luau, at the Royal Hawaiian, is at the most famous hotel in Waikiki. 14 mi through city traffic, about a half hour, IF the traffic is reasonable - not likely on a weekend:

I'd suggest the Paradise Cove luau in Ko Olina. Gorgeous setting, fun crafts and games - and while the food isn't great (even the Polynesian Cultural Center's food has gone down in quaility) the entertainment is pretty good too.
