Winter Home on Oahu (Kaneohe, Pearl City: townhouses, neighborhoods, to live)

Hi,

My family has been considering getting a 2nd home on Oahu. Our preference would be to live "near" honolulu, but not within the city jungle itself. Can you find a decent 3 bedroom house just outside honolulu in the $500k range? Where would be some neighborhoods to look? Any advice would be appreciated! I'm sure there are questions I haven't addressed here, so let me know where i need to be more specific. Thanks!

Could check out zillow.com . Has a map and shows where houses are on it/price ranges etc. Good luck!

No, I doubt you can find a "nice/decent" house around $500k.
Although you could find a nice townhouse in that price range. Places I'd recommend checking:

Wailuna townhouses @ Pearl City
Moanalua Village @ Salt Lake/Moanalua area
Village on the Green @ Waikele
Nanea Kai @ Hawaii Kai
Lalea @ Hawaii Kai
Kalama Kuu @ Hawaii Kai
Kai Nani @ Makakilo
Ocean Ridge @ Makakilo
Nohona @ Mililani Mauka
Fairway Village Townhouses @ Mililani
Arbors @ Ewa
Ocean Pointe @ Ewa (personally don't care for the commute, but townhouses are nice).

There are townhomes in Kailua and Kaneohe, I am not familiar with those to be able to recommend any.
