Obama kicked up his game quite a few notches by eating at Vintage Cave on New Years - he also made it to Island Snow that day.

Every time the national news reporters are on the air I am trying to figure out which hotels they are making their live broadcast from. Some times it looks like they might be in The Hilton next to the Hale Koa. Not sure though....Any ideas????

Most of the shots I see are around the Royal Hawaiian - but, they could be anywhere depending on time/network.

Thanks Viper, what is the pink hotel you see on the beach?

Regarding the couple that got married, news said that they got a better deal when they were moved and were very happy with it. They also got a call from Obama congratulating them.

The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, aka "The Pink Palace."

I think "someone" should have footed the bill. It would have been good publicity for the venue if they had. I know the gov't can't but still.... It was nice of the POTUS to call and congratulate.

Thanks for making me "homesick" whtviper1.

You guys are forgetting that they're commissioned military officers, and subject to the UCMJ. They have to show a good face to the media over this, no matter how they might actually feel about it.

That isn't lost on anybody.

You can't fake the enthusiasm they had in the Today show interview I posted and while they might be barred from saying anything negative, they certainly didn't have to do interviews.

And they definitely won't forget the President calling them on their wedding day and the video that came with it.

It was a memorable day - in a very good way.
