Aloha!

We are planning to stay in Ewa Beach for a while. I saw several
threads on this subject, but I have a specific question
for people who are familiar with that area (South/Central Ewa):

Any centipedes there at all? Scorpions?

I understand they can be dangerous to pets and small children.

Many thanks,

Paul

Aloha and welcome. Paul Ewa beach has centipedes and scorpions, but you have a bigger chance of running into a B52 Cockroach and a feral cat(lol) then a centipede or scorpion. With the centipedes, you have a better chance of running into them then a scorpion. But to be honest the scorpions i remember were very small and clear not really scary looking. Yes centipede bites are poisonous but not life taking, just painful and sometimes the area can get infectted and swell, try useing papaya mush on the sting area(common home remedy) but some do have to go get shots if the bite areas swell up or get to infectted.

You do have to watch for Centipedes if you live by trees or bushes. Centipedes like to come in windows from the tree branches, or open doors next to bushes.
Saw a lot of Centipedes in the old Navy Housing back in the late 1980's. Now with all the news Navy housing with central air. There is no need to open the windows to cool down at night and risk visits by the centipedes.

Yes on both counts. I think we saw one centipede and a few scorpions in a year. Two dogs and a cat. No casualties. Saw more scorpions in Texas.

You'll have pets? I hope their little ducks are in a row to get a direct release for them right at the airport.
