Well it's 30 miles to downtown, so she is currently travelling 30 miles an hour, not horrible for rush hour in a lot of places.

I can just see whtviper1 being happy at 30 mph. Maybe if another zero were added, then he'd be good. Although aren't you driving a Tesla now instead of a Viper? Not that either one can go 300, but they can go better than 30 mph.

Too bad ferries don't work, having one go from Ko'olina to Aloha Tower would be helpful.

Hey, when does the school year start again? Is it this Friday or next week sometime? I see a lot of cars around the local high school, but no kids yet so far. Still lots of kids at the local swimming pool and the street in front of the school is still two way so the kids aren't in school yet. During the school year the road in front of the school goes to one way during school hours which changes my routes and my swimming times may change since there'll be a lot less swimmers at certain times of the day.

Yup, rya96797, it looks like the 7th of next month. According to the DOE calendar, the students start on Monday August 7th. They mentioned something about a 'multi-track' school and charter schools, but most everybody will be heading back to school on August 7th.

Does the start of school change things very much for mainland locations? It seems to change Oahu's traffic patterns pretty substantially, but is that common for lots of areas?

For me, it changes the traffic pattern on our local street as well as the amount of folks at the swimming pool. I'm sure for folks with kids in school, the differences between summer and school times have a lot more differences.

except for private school and UH, those start later in august. I think traffic gets substantially worse at that time. it's kind of a cumulative snowball effect.
