I was not tracking that these boards were a thing, but they seem like a good concept as far as I'm concerned. They are very similar to the community boards in NYC from what I can tell.

There are police and fire representatives present at each board meeting, as well as political representation from elected officials' offices. Some of the interesting notes I've read are information about police checkpoints and law enforcement efforts that are the direct result of citizen complaints at these meetings.
