Hi I am from NJ & wondering if you still LOVE Ocala, was considering a move there. I, too own a horse & work in the equine industry. Does Ocala have any "reasonably" priced farmettes? It seems the properties I locate are "thru the roof", so was wondering, thank you.

Been in Ocala for three years, it is OK... Not the best place, but not the worst either (we have lived all over the world).
I just seen a home listed as a horse property today, it is a 2/2/1 on 5 acres with a pole barn for $189,900... It is located North East of Ocala. If you want me to look up the ad, PM me and I will send you the info!

It can be tough. I love it here still, but many areas are expensive, although, compared to Jersey, not so much so. I came from the Medford area, where are you coming from? It seems there are a lot of doublewides and mobiles for sale on 5-10 acre lots. It's crazy how many people build beautiful barns and put up nice 4-board fencing and then live in a mobile down here. But those are the most inexpensive. If you have 350-500 K to spend, you can buy a really nice concrete block home and mini-farm, depending on how many acres you want. I'd like 5 myself. There are also a lot of equestrian communites down here, and I'm looking into that. Also, you could rent until you decide what you want, or rent and buy land and then eventually put up a house. There are many nice rentals around for very cheap compared to Jersey. That's what I'm doing, I'm on a 100 acre farm, with house and fenced yard for the dogs, plus my horse is boarded here, there are 9 miles of groomed trails, etc., all for much less than I was paying for a 1 bdrm. apt. in Maple Shade, NJ. PM me for more info if you'd like.

I have lived in Ocala my entire life and love it here! Just wanted to mention a website that is good for job searching and house hunting....
Ocala Florida Classifieds -- OCALA4SALE.COM. There are a lot of postings that aren't in the paper. Feel free to email me if you have any questions!

What about the job market in Ocala?

I agree that Ocala is beautiful, and the people are very friendly and helpful and the rents are less than S.Florida. That is the reason I suggested my daughter and my grandchildren move up there. BUT she has been there about a month 1/2 and still is unable to find a job. Help!!!!!! If anyone knows of a place hiring for clerical, receptionist or office work, preferably a vets office, customer service anything, please send me a private message. I was told the unemployment in the area is at it's highest!!! She needs a job ASAP to support her children, again please if you live in the area and know of any positions available, please IM me.
Thank you

Ok, If she needs a job, she can find jobs opportunities in CareerBuilder.com Jobs - The Largest Job Search, Employment & Careers Site and check the positions in the Ocala area. And there's three big hospitals in the area, and the new veterans hospital is going to be built in the area. Good luck.

what's the matter with that
I don't live in either but to some people they like the land, open area they don't need mansions as they are just fine with their little house, it gives them what they want, privacy and a roof over their head
just to ad living in one doesn't make then any less than the person who moves down here and buys a 1 million $ house in a housing association
