Default car in towing lot after accident

Can someone please tell me my options when my car was in an accident and now is at towing place for a week charging $20 a day. Other driver had no insurance and my insurance does not cover only have the bare minimum. I don't have the money to pay the tow people. Is it possible to call someone to see if they will want the car for junk and have them pay my towing & weekly charge? Any help I can get will be much appreciated. Am stuck in a bind. Thanks for all your help.

I told a neighbor he was crazy for giving up a low milage Honda, the motor alone could probably fetch a grand. I said why didn't you demand the tow company bring it home so you could part it out on Craigslist, Ebay. He says the Sheriff made him use the tow company tied to the Dept and there tow and storage fee was astronomical......I've never heard of such a thing, that's like seizing private property.

Depending on what it is, what year, and how long it's been in impound it may not even be worth pursuing as I heard $300 to $1000 for scrap vehicles. They'll probably be asking for the title pretty soon, as they can't do much w/o it.. but from what I understand they can report you to the DMV and get your license suspended if you don't give it to them. Get your tag because you can assign it to another vehicle you buy or at least get credit for a new tag, if you turn the old one in.
